Documented controls.
Evidence still matters.
Eight controls remain implemented. Version 0.10.3 adds recovery reliability and Game Hub improvements; no measured gaming benefit has been established.
What was selected
Microsoft documents latency-hint performance requests, energy preference and core unparking. These use the existing reversible power-policy interface and can be changed individually. Their firmware response, thermal effects and benefit need separate measurement. Read the behavior and installation steps.
Other areas reviewed
- Network interrupt moderation: remains guided. Driver support varies, and packet batching trades CPU work against latency. A future control needs per-adapter discovery and restoration across reconnects. Microsoft source.
- NVIDIA Reflex: use the supported in-game control. Its rendering-pipeline integration is not implemented by a global registry tweak. NVIDIA source.
- Hybrid CPU scheduling: preserve automatic placement until topology and game-specific evidence support a change. The new controls do not pin threads or label CPU classes as P/E cores.
Earlier requests and current status
- Available: native Control app, Reineryu icons, individual supported switches, recovery records, current-user add-on installer, all-user maintenance installer, guided OS Setup and matching standalone tester.
- Included in the installation kit and assembled ISO: Control, welcome flow, theme and reset-restoration assets. The full 8.47 GiB ISO is now assembled locally. Actual Windows first boot and reset behavior remain unverified. Image status.
- Partially implemented: game tools, diagnostics, performance comparison, updates and the broader research catalog. Eight controls are implemented; research inventory does not imply hundreds of working tweaks.
- Still required: compatible target-build validation, clean installation, Windows servicing/recovery, game and anti-cheat coverage, signing, remaining vendor integrations and real independent performance evidence.
Installing Control is available now. Consumer qualification of the custom OS is unfinished. A simulation cannot certify installation, compatibility or physical input latency.
Full requested beta: progress and remaining work
Version 0.10.3 is an incremental preview. The complete 15-phase Windows and gaming brief is not finished. This table separates implemented software from missing features and required external evidence.
| Requested phase | Current status |
|---|---|
| 1. Regression/database/toggles | Four reproduced recovery defects fixed; core and native lifecycle checks passed. Original screenshot's exact trigger, all-device behavior, long-run memory/resource and full cross-account checks remain unverified. |
| 2. Genuine Windows installation | Existing builder/kit stages all-user Control, welcome, themes and reset assets. The 0.10.3 ISO contains an unchanged official WIM plus OEM payload. No candidate has completed Setup/OOBE. Full serviced-image/driver/component qualification is incomplete. |
| 3. UI | Existing native Windows layout and switches retained; Game Hub now has working library controls. Three appearance modes checked. Broad accessibility/DPI/multi-monitor and every possible error state remain incomplete. |
| 4. Compatibility | Existing inventory/capability matrix and explicit unavailable states retained. Eight implemented controls remain gated above build 26200; the approved source is 26300. The gate was not raised. Vendor-specific detection/qualification is incomplete. |
| 5. Game Mode 2.0 | Existing optional process monitoring and benchmark protocols remain. No approved automatic process-policy/profile system, crash diagnosis or measured Maximum Tested Performance profile is delivered. |
| 6. Gaming features | Game Hub search/filter/favorites and Steam launch route implemented. Launch/game/anti-cheat validation, per-game automatic profiles, supported overlay, vendor sensors and complete native display/audio control remain incomplete. Existing Windows Settings links are not claimed as native device control. |
| 7. Smart Optimize | Existing one-control evidence-aware planner and original/current/proposed/restore view remain. Full automatic hardware recommendation/conflict selection and multi-setting optimization workflow are unfinished. |
| 8. Performance research | Eight documented reversible controls retained. No additional tweak was added just to increase the count. Device-specific CPU/GPU/NIC/input/storage integrations and real evidence remain outstanding. |
| 9. Benchmark Lab | Existing PresentMon capture, paired comparisons and standalone tester retained. No new physical capture or verified FPS/input-delay gain. GPU/ETW/vendor-sensor coverage remains partial. |
| 10. Updates | Source already uses the pinned primary Pages origin, signed envelopes, bounded parts, checksums, scope selection, expiry/downgrade rejection and resumable download; the older update-distribution report was stale. Signed feed promotion, publisher Authenticode signing, all-user upgrade and power-loss qualification remain open. |
| 11. Recovery | History/exact-value rollback/checkpoints/diagnostics retained and hardened. Full network-adapter/power-plan recovery, comprehensive database repair and real Windows Recovery/reset qualification remain incomplete. |
| 12. Installer | Self-contained per-user/all-user installer builds exist. Isolated per-user upgrade/repair/uninstall passed. Machine-wide first boot/repair and clean Windows installation remain unverified. No one-click destructive reinstall. |
| 13. UI automation | 22 pages/48 checks in three themes for this increment. Coverage is meaningful but not exhaustive; some OS, elevation and external-app operations are deliberately not executed here. |
| 14. Hardware/OS validation | Blocked for required external evidence. Host has no Hyper-V hypervisor; earlier QEMU Setup was rejected for TPM/Secure Boot. A compatible disposable target and physical tester are required. No repeated unsupported VM run or requirements bypass. |
| 15. Release gates | Software increment verified in the stated scope. Consumer OS gates remain unmet. No Stable, successful OS install, validated gaming profile or consumer-ready claim. |
