The results. And their limits.
The 0.6 checks establish specific software behavior on the development machine. They do not establish gaming gains or a qualified Windows distribution.
Software validation
| Check | Observed result |
|---|---|
| Core behavior | 74 tests passed |
| PowerShell tooling | 15 tests passed |
| Windows appearance | 20 pages and 24 interaction checks passed |
| Dark-blue appearance | 20 pages and 24 interaction checks passed |
| Startup recovery | 3 checks passed; damaged journal preserved |
| Scheduler APIs | 5 child-process apply/readback/restore probes passed |
| Installer | 15 checks passed, including repair and uninstall |
| Read-only diagnostics | 28 of 30 queries available across six modules |
Regression tests include synthetic fixtures and fake settings backends. Native scheduler probes use actual Windows APIs in an expendable process. Installer checks use an isolated test identity. Neither the test counts nor the source catalog count are counts of proven performance optimizations.
Control Center overhead
Six matched, counterbalanced pairs compared the packaged 0.5 and 0.6 Home pages with monitoring enabled. Each of the 12 trials used five seconds of warm-up and 15 seconds of measurement. Complete application fingerprints remained unchanged.
| Metric | 0.5 | 0.6 | Difference interval |
|---|---|---|---|
| CPU, % of one logical core | 0.3955% | 0.3098% | −0.2228 to +0.0686 percentage points |
| Working set | 127.03 MiB | 127.68 MiB | +0.0045 to +1.5746 MiB |
Result: inconclusive. These short development-host trials do not establish a performance improvement or rule out all regressions. They measure the utility’s own overhead, not Windows speed, Fortnite FPS or input latency.
Intervals are 97.5% per endpoint, from 20,000 bootstrap resamples of paired trials. Individual frames are not treated as independent experiments. Background workloads, scheduling and rendering were uncontrolled. An earlier interrupted run was retained as failed and excluded from the comparison.
Research and availability
The 52-entry lab catalog distinguishes implemented diagnostics, isolated experiments, guidance, developer integrations and pending research. Of 67 monitored source URLs, 62 fetched successfully and five Intel pages returned HTTP 403. Thirteen document fingerprints changed and require review; changed HTML does not prove a semantic change.
Storage reliability and filesystem-filter queries were unavailable under the tested permissions/support conditions. Missing readings remain unavailable instead of being replaced with invented metrics.
Not yet qualified
- Fortnite scene captures and measured FPS, frame-time or physical latency improvements.
- Elevated tuning, reboot recovery and broad hardware/Windows build compatibility.
- Anti-cheat, prolonged gaming, sleep/resume, servicing and clean-install acceptance.
- A bootable custom Windows image, WinRE and bare-metal installation.
- A signed production release and remote CI execution.
No persistent host tuning was applied during this iteration’s tests. Supported security features are preserved by the bundled profiles.
